Numerous companies feel that, so long as every last member of staff has sufficient health & safety education, they now have all the experience they require to prevent an emergency. Realistically however, employees must have more than simply a basic education in safety regulations and risk assessment. You need to supply your staff with competent supervision, not to mention provide the right safety gear and give them the opportunity to practice. All teams must have an excellent supervisor to keep an eye on staff performance, but this individual must also take an even greater function on the floor. A supervisor needs to realise the importance of health & safety training and be able to get other people feeling enthusiastic. In addition to enforcing health & safety legislation, the employee supervising must also make sure that employees perform every task well. This is not a simple undertaking. To accomplish this the supervisor needs to have in depth understanding of both the business and the product not to mention a very high standard of comprehension of safety legislation, risk assessment, and emergency assistance techniques. It’s just not sufficient to send any employees to a health & safety training course. They must practise risk assessment and the recognition of hazardous areas. Staff need to understand how to deal with hazards not to mention knowing what to do if the unexpected happens. Not until these processes become a routine are workers properly protected.

Good safety apparatus is every bit as essential to the your workers’ well-being as any training. Without the correct equipment or should they find out that supplies are not functioning properly only after a crisis has occurred, the safety training your employees have completed will have been basically for nothing. You need to check on a regular basis to ensure you have all the necessary equipment and also that it is working correctly. Should you have a problem with your equipment, have it fixed or serviced as a matter of urgency. Your employees have to have appropriate health and safety instruction, however they also require good quality apparatus, the opportunity to practise, and a supervisor who has contagious enthusiasm. Only then will observing the various safety regulations be part of everyone’s working habits and no longer something that staff have to attempt to remember.
